Tiny implant may prevent skin cancer, give you a safe tan

Scientists have developed a hormone-releasing implant that protect’s the skin from cancer while producing a safe tan.

Users of Scenesse get a bronzed glow without burning within two days — and the effect lasts for two months.

Clinuvel insists that it is for medical use and is not intended for cosmetic tanning.

The implant, the size of a grain of rice, is surgically placed just above the hip, then releases an artificial version of a hormone needed for tanning.
This tricks the body into thinking it has been exposed to the sun’s rays and triggers a reaction, which forms a protective barrier beneath the skin.
As well as providing defence against skin cancer, it will help people who suffer severe allergic reactions to sunlight.
